Decorated Kenyan track and field star Faith Kipyegon goes for a record that was once-considered insurmountable Thursday, as she attempts to become the first woman to run the four-minute mile. Kipyegon will actually attempt to dip below the 4:00 mark,

Kipyegon has already made history in Nike spikes. She accomplished her Olympic gold three-peat in 2024 in Nike Victory 2s and set the current mile record in the shoe as well. For her biggest attempt yet, the designers created the Nike Victory Elite FK (as in, Faith Kipyegon or “fastest known”).

Nike is betting its endeavor to help Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon run a mile in under four minutes will recapture the attention of women consumers who have been looking elsewhere for running shoes and clothes.
