Dennis Lehane, whose literary canon includes the novels-turned-movie hits “Gone, Baby, Gone” and “Mystic River,” has turned to fire for his latest project — Apple TV+’s new nine-episode crime drama “Smoke.

Fire is at the center of Smoke, Apple TV+ 's searing new crime drama, but the blaze that matters most is internal. Created by bestselling author and screenwriter Dennis Lehane ( Black Bird, Mystic River ), the show sets an arson investigator, a troubled detective and two elusive firebugs on a collision course with their pasts—and themselves.

On their trail we find the arson investigator Dave Gudsen (Taron Egerton) and Det. Michell Calderon (Jurnee Smollett). The nine-episode series co-stars John Leguizamo and Greg Kinnear. It's based on the podcast "Firebug," about the real-life arsonist John Leonard Orr.
