El Salvador picked up two red cards in the first half and played the entire second half of its 2-0 loss to Canada with nine men.

Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan scored two minutes, 35 seconds apart early in the second half and Canada defeated El Salvador 2-0 on Tuesday night in Houston to reach the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals.

Canada and El Salvador will meet in a decisive Group B fixture at the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup on June 24 at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.
