Audi gave up some open-air excitement when its previous Cabriolet went out of production in 2000. For 2003, the four-place Cab comes back, born again into the A4 lineup.

When the A4 cabriolet goes on sale in October, the only available engine will be the 220-hp, 3.0-liter V-6. In February 2003, Audi will add to the lineup the familiar turbocharged 1.8-liter four.

The 2003 A4 Cabriolet is Audi’s first four-place convertible in five years. The previous, slightly sluggish Cabriolet sold at a rate of 1100 a year from 1994 to 1998.
