Evander Kane met with the media at Rogers Arena on Thursday morning, just over 24 hours after he was traded to his hometown team. The 33-year-old forward took questions on a variety of topics, and we will highlight the press conference in this article.

On Wednesday, the Vancouver Canucks acquired former Vancouver Giants winger Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers. Kane, who will turn 34 years old before the start of the season, was acquired using the fourth-round pick Vancouver received in the Vasily Podkolzin trade last year.

That latter aspect of Kane’s game is something Vancouver felt it sorely lacked last season. This was a roster that just wasn’t nearly big enough or heavy enough in the organization’s estimation, especially following the J.T. Miller trade. It was a skill set the club was willing to roll the dice on.
