Makaton symbols can also be used to support communication in many different ways – they’re especially useful for those who have limited speech and who cannot, or prefer not to sign.

Different to British Sign Language (BSL), Makaton is a language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It is used in the CBeebies show, Something Special.
