Dominican prosecutors have requested that suspended Tampa Bay Rays player Wander Franco be sentenced to five years in prison for his alleged crimes.

Prosecutors say they proved their case for sexual abuse and seek a prison term of 5 years — down from a possible 30.

Prosecutors said Monday that there is sufficient evidence proving that Franco had a four-month relationship with a minor and was sending money to the girl’s mother to consent to the relationship.
